2009, Reflections!

December 31, 2009

Yet another year has flown by and much faster then any other before. It seems like just yesterday that I was reflecting on 2008, which was an interesting year for me with many life style changes but I would say that 2009 is the year (so far) that I have grown most, spiritually speaking. Also this was the year where I found a profound change in my beliefs that was reflected back to me in a most pleasant way through situations and people. I discovered some wonderful authors and read a lot of books. I meditated quite a bit and had some amazing experiences.

Last year I turned vegetarian but this year I tried a raw food diet for three days and to my amazement enjoyed it so much so that now about 70% of my total daily intake of food is raw. Also now I don’t feel like eating dairy products as much as before. I didn’t force or limit myself to healthier options but it happened automatically as I felt more conscious about my every day choices.

I also did a three day juice fast which I didn’t blog about because I wasn’t sure if I will be able to pull it off but I did. During the fast I had to deal with some buried emotions that came to the surface, that happened in the first two days but on the third day I felt wonderfully calm with an overwhelming sense of happiness. It felt like a weight has been lifted from my shoulders. Not only my body but also my mind detoxified.

I feel empowered in the sense that I don’t need particular kinds of foods to satisfy my cravings. It is my choice to eat something or not and I lost my addiction to sweets, tea and other things which I previously thought I couldn’t live without. Now if I indulge myself to some treats it is for pleasure only.

However if you ever consider any kind of fast it is absolutely essential that you make sure that you are not suffering from any kind of eating disorder or are underweight. It is not about forcing yourself to stop eating but it is about being conscious of what you are eating and why you are eating it. It is about listening to your body and providing it with the nourishment it needs not more and not less.

I didn’t loose any weight during my juice fast. It is about mind over matter, I knew that I didn’t need to loose any weight so I told myself that I wouldn’t and I didn’t. Before my fast I read a couple of books on this topic and got some really good tips about programming the body to work perfectly regardless of what I eat or don’t eat. So in spite of my fast my weight remained the same because I knew and believed that it would.

This has been a year where I found myself to be more understanding of people who have different beliefs or beliefs that I have outgrown. I understand that conformity is unnecessary everyone has the right to be who they prefer. I respect them for who they are just as I respect myself for who I am.

This has been a year where I truly learned to live in the moment. I enjoy each day, doing things that I love. I am in no hurry to get somewhere as I know that I have all the time in the world. I am getting to understand that there really are no limitations other then the ones we think we have. I feel so liberated knowing that we have free will in everything. I feel so blessed and grateful for the way my life is turning out to be.

Today is the last day of 2009 and in the few hours a brand New Year will began with new exciting possibilities and adventures. I thank you all for being with me and sharing my journey of self awareness. I wish you much success and happiness in all your endeavors. Have a fabulous & miraculous New Year!
