Be Strong, Control your Temper!


Anger is an indication of weakness and not of strength. It is in my opinion not only a useless but harmful emotion. It results in nothing but negativity and distant between you and others. Anger causes stress and stress leads to other bodily dysfunctions. A person in rage often does foolish things which he later regrets. Some people have a habit of getting angry and irritated at the slightest of provocations. If you are such a person then think about it for a minute what happened when the last time you lost your temper. What did you gain by it; did it result in something positive? You know that if you put your hand in fire you will burn yourself. You don’t have to burn yourself many times to learn this. Apply this same principle to anger.

A person who is easily upset and irritated is not well liked and people will continue to perceive him that way until he learns to control his behavior. When he is irritated he annoys others. You are at a disadvantage if you lose your temper quickly because then you are not able to make use of your intelligence and judgment which leads to irrational behavior. Carefully study the behavior of an angry person and you will see almost an insane expression on his face. If you remain cool during an argument then you have an upper hand over your opponent because then you are the sane one dealing with an insane person.

Why then people keep repeating this kind of behavior? Because they are not in control of their emotions rather they are the slave of their emotions. They don’t know what they should do when something makes them angry. How should they get rid of this feeling? The answer is if you want to be a master of your emotions you need to be close to your higher self. Your soul or higher self has unlimited power and strength. It never gets angry, scared or worried. Out side forces can never harm or influence your real self. According to William Walker Atkinson your personality is only your outer appearance, the part you are playing in the great play of life, on the stage of the universe. If you are easily irritated then it means that you are not getting cooperation of the powers of your higher nature. In order to get closer to your higher self every day sit quietly for a few minutes and think of your real self. Gradually you will begin to feel more in control of not only your emotions but also your life.

When ever you are cross with someone you should remember your higher nature the real you. Try to replace this feeling of anger with compassion and understanding for the person who is causing this kind of emotion in you. I know this sounds difficult to do but it is possible. You are doing this for yourself rather then for the other person. If you are familiar with the concept of law of attraction you know that what ever you focus on you bring more of it in your life. So if you are an angry person you will attract more anger for yourself and people in your life will become more difficult to deal with. It is not that God or universe is punishing you for your anger. In fact it is the opposite; the universe is trying to heal your anger by bringing in situations and people who are making you angry. These situations will keep repeating themselves until you learn that anger leads to nothing but harm to yourself and others.


If you are upset don’t raise or lower your voice. Speak in a clear and calm manner. If you find your self speaking fast, correct your self and speak slowly and deliberately. Every time there is a situation or person that makes you angry and you don’t give in to the temptation by remaining cool and peaceful you gain more power over anger. This will happen quite a few times until you will have complete power over your tendency to loose temper.

Every morning when you wake up say it to yourself that you will be in control of your emotions and will maintain your poise all through the day no matter what happens. Try your best to keep this resolution by using your will power. If you are a person who has a habit of getting into fits of temper you will not be able to hold on to your resolve for the first few days but soon you will get the hang of it. Keep your mind focused on your real self and its wonderful possibilities and you will have more self control and a higher opinion of your self.
