Higher Self, the Real You
Most of us depend on external things for our happiness. Our whole life depends upon “if” and what “could be”. The key to your happiness is within you, not in other people, things or situations. I am not talking in abstract terms here. I am referring to your higher self. I have mentioned this quite a few times before. However it seems that some of you are still not clear about this concept.
We all are manifestations of one divine source, one infinite power or in other terms God. There is one infinite source of life from which everything proceeds. All of us are individualized spirits originated from the spirit. In this way you are not only connected to God but to everyone else as well. We all are part of one giant body of humanity. That is why I always say that what ever is your goal in life should be for the good of all because this serves you too. Think about it this way you will not cut off your one arm so there is more blood in your body for your other arm. The health of any part of your body depends upon the health of your entire body. If your thoughts or actions are intended to hurt someone then in reality you are hurting yourself. People call it karma, I call it common sense.
There is an infinite source of wisdom, love and power within you. This is what your higher self is. This is who you really are. When you realize your sense of oneness with God, Allah, The Infinite or Divinity, (whatever is the term that you use) you discover a sense of peace and joy that you never experienced before.
Some of you might find this concept strange or even offensive; it depends on what you were taught to believe, what others told you. You might say that what you are reading now is also someone telling you something. However you don’t have to take my word for it. Discover this truth for yourself. Everyday take a couple of minutes to concentrate or meditate on the “God within” and you will receive wisdom that will guide you. Sometimes people realize this truth while they are doing their everyday tasks and it just dawns on them that they are a part of something bigger, they have a divine connection with God. This realization is accompanied by an unimaginable feeling of happiness. Whether you meditate or not this truth will come to you if you let it and are ready for it.
I used to think that God created the universe and then took himself out of the picture to reside somewhere in the sky. I believed that he directs, controls, punishes and rewards us. I believed that he operates on us from outside. Until one day I realized that God is not without but within. It felt like I was waiting for this moment my entire life. It was the missing piece in the puzzle of life. Everything made sense; I saw my life in the new light. I realized that everything that happened in my life, I created it myself. Law of the universe or
law of attraction
is simple, whatever thoughts or words you put out, they always come back to you “magnified”. They increase in size like a snow ball rolling down a mountain covered with snow and getting bigger and bigger. God doesn’t punish we get what we give and sometimes there are lessons that we need to learn to improve ourselves and our lives.
You have the power to create whatever it is that you want. With thoughts of good will for all, you can create a life of peace and happiness. In this way you not only make your own life harmonious but you also contribute in making a heaven for everyone else in the world. The combined
thought
patterns of all of us (and the past generations) have made the world what it is today. If you want a better world then become a better you. That is the biggest gift that you can give to mankind and also to yourself.
I am not saying that you should disrespect your religion. We should honor all religions. What I am asking you to do is to develop a personal relationship with God. At the heart of every religion lies this powerful truth. If you look deep enough you will find it buried under the layers of tradition, formality, conventionality and ceremony. You don’t have to spend a lot of time or money to find God. You don’t have to travel great distances, you don’t even have to step out of your home to be near to God. You just have to get to know yourself, to find the light of truth within you.
So how can you be ready to receive this truth? To be ready you have to de junk your mind from all the clutter that has been preventing this wisdom from reaching you. Negative thoughts cause a blockage in you and you can’t receive the light of God. I have just one for you “forgiveness”. You can eliminate most of your negative thoughts and emotions by forgiving others. Thoughts of malice, hatred, anger and jealousy harms your mental and physical health and leads to all sorts of diseases. As someone said, “Not forgiving someone is like drinking poison your self and expecting the other person to die”. Forgiving others will also help you to forgive your self for your own mistakes. You will then find it easier to let go of any guilt that you have been holding. Everybody make mistakes, learn from them and move on.
Get rid of fear. The real you has unlimited courage. You have nothing to be afraid of. Have faith in your inner power that is the divine power of God. Stop worrying. You are never alone. There is something in you, guiding and loving you at all times. It doesn’t matter what your past is. Today is the new day. Start over. Erase the negative pictures on the canvas of your mind. Be a clean slate and then start drawing beautiful pictures. When your mind is free from negative and restrictive thoughts, you are ready to realize your oneness with God.
Through love you can find God. Open yourself to receive the divine inflow of love because God is love. You cannot change others but what you can do is change yourself or rather recognize the “changeless” within you, your higher self.
If you think it is difficult to find good in some people then remember that the wisdom that is in you is also in everyone else. However it could be hidden beneath the evolving and sometimes error making
personality
. Don’t look at their temporary, changing self but look beyond it. Look at their higher self, their inner God. Even if you can’t see the good in them, it is there. To bring it out you don’t need to criticize or judge them but you need to realize the highest and the best in them. When you find God in yourself, you will always look for God in others and you will find it. In the words of Ralph Waldo Trine, who was one of the founders of new thought movement, “When God speaks to God, then God responds, and shows forth as God. But when devil speaks to devil, then devil responds, and the devil is always to pay”.
When you have thoughts of love, your life reflects love. Everyone who comes in contact with you becomes aware of this positive glow of joy and feels good in your presence. When you give out the energy of “selfless love”, you also attract love from all directions. I am not talking about love in mushy or sentimental terms. Love means recognizing God in you and in others. Love means a life characterized by peace, harmony, happiness, success and abundance.
I am living my best life but it doesn’t mean that it is problem proof and I don’t want it to be. Why? Because I know that every challenge that I face is a stepping stone towards a better me. If a problematic situation arises instead of opposing, resisting or ignoring it, I accept it with absolute faith that there is nothing that I cannot handle. Amazingly I find a solution or rather it finds me and in the process I always grow on some level.
A life without challenges or goals is boring and meaning less. The purpose of life is to evolve, to gain wisdom. I don’t take life so seriously anymore. It is like a fun computer or play station game. You have to face certain challenges and only then you can go to the next, higher level. After every level you become wiser and in a better position to tackle the challenges to come. However you “must” enjoy the game that is the whole point of it. Whenever I set a goal for myself, I don’t obsess about it to the extent that I make life miserable for myself and others around me. I savor the “process” of achieving it. Always remember this saying, “Journey is more important then the destination”.
You may not realize it now but there is more power and wisdom in you then you can imagine. The best teacher that you have in your life is “you”. The power of God works through you and it is up to you, how you use it. Listen to the voice of your intuition and all that is important for you to know will come to you.
Sometimes people ask that what if their
intuition
tells them to do something that will harm another. If that happens then it is not the voice of your intuition but of your lower self. You are the physical instrument through which God manifests the divine power for the “highest good of all”. There is no limit to that power; the only limits are the one you put on yourself.
