Non Judgmental Justice

A person who lives consciously does not judge. So how can there be justice if we do not judge? The answer is, a consciously aware person engages in non judgmental justice.

As explained by Gary Zukav in his book “Seat of the Soul”, non judgmental justice is a perception that allows you to see every thing in the world without engaging your negative thoughts and emotions. It allows you to resign, from your self appointed job of a judge because you know that nothing escapes the laws of the universe and every thing is being seen to. It is the freedom of seeing and experiencing situations without responding to them in a negative way.

There is an inner and outer to every thing both mental and material conditions pervade the universe. When you comprehend the discoveries of science with a logic and understanding of a consciously aware person you understand their workings both in physical and non physical dynamics. Let’s look at non judgmental justice from the point of view of optics which may seem peculiar to you but by the time you finish reading this article you will understand it much better. If you have some knowledge of this field you will know that white and black are not colors like yellow, green or blue. White is a combination of all colors of a visible spectrum of light and black is an absence of that spectrum. Black is called an absence of color, while White is really a harmonious blending of all colors, strange as this may appear to one who has not studied the subject. A white light contains light of all frequencies. In that sense it is a combination of all colors. Black objects absorb light of all frequencies. This means very little light is reflected back from them. Black is the absence of light.

White symbolizes peace and purity. We associate white with heaven, we picture angels in robes of white. Black on the other hand symbolizes despair. We call devil the prince of darkness. If disaster strikes we call that day a black day. White as a completion and black as an absence are not limited to only physical dynamics of white light and darkness. White is a reflection of completeness or wholeness. A personality that is complete and not splintered lives in a state of wholeness as represented by white light. For example Christ, Buddha and Krishna were beings of light, wholeness and completeness.

A personality that is incomplete or not whole lives in a state of splinteredness, as indicated by different colors or a combination of them. White represents integration, perfection and presence of divine light. The source of this light is God, divine intelligence or whatever word you prefer. A personality that has lost touch with its higher self or with its soul has lost the source of this light. Black is an absence of light so such a personality becomes capable of evil as represented by blackness.

Evil is an absence of light, an absence of love. It is not something you should fight or run away from. If a room is dark you will switch the light on, to eliminate darkness you need light not more darkness. The remedy for absence is presence. By hating an evil person you contribute to the absence of light not presence. A personality who is stumbling in darkness is suffering. When you hate such a person you bring that suffering upon yourself, you become a hateful person and enter the darkness yourself. Hatred of evil increases it instead of diminishing it. So what should be your response to evil? The answer is non judgmental justice. What does it mean? Non judgmental justice does not mean that you should ignore evil or become passive. It is appropriate for example that you should help a person or persons who are being oppressed. But when you engage in non judgmental justice you have compassion in your heart for those also who oppress. If you strike against darkness without compassion in your heart, you loose your own source of light.

We all have divine or selfless love hidden deep in our hearts, though it is covered by the hard exterior of our personalities. Through intense meditation on truth (I will elaborate on this in the next article) with persistence and faith it can be brought into manifestation. When this selfless love awakens within you, your heart lets go of the hatred and condemnation. You might say that you cannot love a murderer or a thief and you are compelled to condemn them. It is true that you cannot love such kind of people emotionally. However when you have reverence and you are living consciously it is possible that through meditation you attain such a state of inner enlightenment that you are able to perceive the line of causes by which these people have become what they are. You will able to see their intense sufferings and be certain of their ultimate purification. Every soul will be ultimately fully enlightened and purified; it is not a question of “if” but “when”. When you have such knowledge then it will be impossible for you to condemn them and from then on you will think of them with calmness and deep compassion. You will become a ray of sunshine for the darkness of evil. James Allen a British Philosopher said, “The realization of divine knowledge, selfless Love, utterly destroys the spirit of condemnation, disperses all evil, and lifts the consciousness to that height of pure vision where Love, Goodness, Justice are seen to be universal, supreme, all-conquering, indestructible”.

When you understand that evil is an absence of light, you are cautious in your every day choices. Before you make a choice you take time to consider whether it will take you away from the light or towards it. You then have compassion for those who engage in evil activities, even as you challenge their activities. This protects you from entering the darkness and you surround yourself with divine light. This is the appropriate response to evil. This is nonjudgmental justice. The place to begin eliminating evil is your own self.

A compassionate heart is more effective against evil then anything else. It can bring light where there was no light before.
