Plan your way to success

I want to clarify that there is a profound difference between idle day dreaming and visualization. When you visualize you make a clear mental picture of what you want to achieve and a purpose to achieve it. On the other hand when you day dream about something you don’t intend to pursue it, there is no purpose behind it. It is a waste of time.

Imagination backed up by a strong desire and purpose certainly will get you nearer to your goal. All great ideas and inventions first existed in somebody’s imagination. He or she had a detailed and distinct image of what he or she wanted to accomplish. This kind of purposeful imagination or visualization requires hard mental work. Most people shy away from this kind of mental labor and would rather think about random ideas or things. Now then let’s talk about the importance of having a plan to achieve your goal. It is your road map to success. It doesn’t have to be perfect. The whole point of a plan is to let you take your very first steps towards your goal. It is to show the forces of the universe that you indeed intend to accomplish what you desire. You want the universe to work with you and work it will. You will find new opportunities coming your way. You will get ideas about improving your plan. You will find yourself at the right place, at the right time.

Your initial plan may not be a sound one but don’t let that discourage you. If your first attempt is not successful, make another and then another. Just do what is possible for you to do and the God will do the impossible.

Success is intentional. What you desire will not accidentally drop in your lap. You have to earnestly pursue it with persistence. Write down your goal and the initial plan to achieve it. Read it frequently. Meditate on it. Get in touch with your higher self. Tune in to your inner wisdom. Listen to your intuition Keep yourself open to answers and ideas. When an opportunity comes to you avail it without delay. Don’t procrastinate. Don’t let your dream turn in to a wish.

Secret of success is hidden in your daily routine. Make each day count. Be as productive as you can. The way you start your day determines what the rest of your day will be like. The best way to begin your day is with meditation , even if you do it for a few minutes. Concentrate on your oneness with the infinite spirit of life, with God. You will feel a profound sense of peace, courage and power. You will feel a warm glow throughout your body. A joyous feeling will engulf you. Now you are ready to start a brand new day. You will know in your heart that you will accomplish all that you should because you have unlimited strength and intelligence at your command. Also during the day find a few minutes of quite time to tap in to your connection with the infinite and you will find yourself feeling fresh and energized. It doesn’t matter if you are alone or not, you can always take a walk in that beautiful and peaceful place that is within you. When you become good at it you will get inspired suggestions about your plans and goals while you are in that special place that is within you. God is always with us, within us, directing and guiding us. However we cannot always hear these inspired whisperings due to blockages in us. We cannot tune into the infinite wisdom because of an impure heart. Remove all the negativities that are in you. Stop your habit of fault finding. See good in everything and everyone. Find ways to serve others. Be a blessing to just one person each day. When you are kind, helpful and loving to others in fact you are doing yourself a favor. You are not only connected to the infinite but also to everyone one else in the world. We all come from the same source; we are parts of the same whole. We are like different parts of one body. The good of all is for our own benefit. When you do a good deed for someone, a need in your life get filled in an unexpected way.

I did it again. I completely went off the topic we were discussing. I have a tendency to do that as you might have noticed in my previous articles. However I never try to stop the inflow of words coming to me from I don’t know where because I get a feeling that they need to be said.

Like I was saying before you goal will not materialize unless you have a plan to achieve it. You will not accidentally arrive at your ideal weight, you will not accidentally start your own business, and you will not accidentally become a famous sports player, actor or writer. You have to start somewhere, make some kind of effort and commitment. If you have a talent for singing, go to as many auditions as you can. Better yet audition for a show such as American Idol. This could be your initial plan. You won’t get discovered by sitting in home. Don’t be afraid or embarrassed of criticism. I have a cousin in India who has a wonderful singing voice. They have a show there similar to American Idol called Indian Idol. The only reason that he doesn’t want to audition is that he is embarrassed to be criticized on national television. Even when you don’t win in such competitions, you get noticed. You come in the public eye and get other, sometimes better opportunities. Just look at Jennifer Hudson. She was eliminated from American Idol, finishing the competition in seventh place but better things were on the way. She was chosen to play an important role in Hollywood’s adaptation of Broadway’s musical “Dream Girls”. She won the role over hundreds of professional singers and actresses, including Raven-Symoné and American Idol winner Fantasia Barrino. She got an Oscar and the Golden Globe Award in addition to a host of other awards for her performance. Persistence always pays off. Temporary failure always equal to permanent success if you are determined enough.

Yesterday I was reading about Taryn Rose, the CEO of Taryn Rose International which is a $28 million shoe company. It makes stylish but comfortable shoes. Rose is originally from Vietnam, she came to USA when she was eight years old. She thought she wanted to be a physician like her father. She got her medical degree and went for tough training in orthopedic surgery. After long hours of training when her colleagues would head home she would stop at Neiman Marcus, an upscale department store, for what she calls retail therapy. She would often wonder about leaving medicine and going in to shoe designing. She dreamt of making shoes that were chic but comfortable even if a person wore them all day long. When it was time to apply for post residential fellowships she didn’t wanted to continue her career in medicine instead she wanted to pursue her dream of designing shoes.

Rose admits that she was afraid of failure and what people will say about her leaving a secure job. Eventually her passion for her dream proved to be stronger then her fear of failure. She had no finances to start a new brand but she had a PLAN. She didn’t just wait around for chance or luck to give her an opportunity but she went out to find one. She made friends with a sales clerk who knew people in shoe industry in Italy and went to Milan to learn to make shoes. She didn’t have money for focus groups so she conducted her own research by asking customers at Neiman Marcus, what they wanted in shoes. Somebody told her that it would cost her $10 million to start a new brand. She took a $200,000 loan from small business administration but that wasn’t enough. As the saying goes when there is a will, there is a way. I cannot emphasize more on this point. When you do all that you can to pursue your dream you get miraculous help. Opportunities come to you from unexpected sources. There is nothing supernatural about it, it is the law of the Universe and it ALWAYS works! You just need to have faith; undeniable faith and new doors will be open for you.

Taryn Rose didn’t have the needed finances or resources but she was determined not to give up. Her story got picked up by a lot of newspapers and magazines. She was on her way to success. She had to work really hard and face some tough times in the beginning. She handled everything herself from marketing to accounts. Now eight years later her shoes can be found in more then 220 stores world wide. She has four boutiques in USA and a new one in Paris. She succeeded in her aim of designing shoes for maximum comfort. She says that what she is doing now is not all that different from what she was doing as a physician; the goal is the same to relieve pain. Now she is helping hundreds and thousands of people and having a time of her life doing it. When your passion is also your profession you do a more effective job of it. You never get bored at work on the contrary you look forward to each working day with excitement and joy. The good that you do then has the power to spread without much effort because it is backed up by a strong desire that has the capacity to attract helpful circumstances and people from all directions.

The important thing when you set a goal for yourself is to make a plan, any plan that you think will lead you towards your aim. Maybe you think that there is nothing you can do at the moment. This is a big misconception on your part. If you feel, you are trapped in an undesirable situation, make the most of what is available to you. If you have a job that you don’t like but you see no opportunity coming your way, do the best you can at your current occupation. Give one hundred and ten percent. Remember it is essential that you fulfill all your responsibilities with a cheerful heart. Do not complain or react in a negative way. This is your plan for now. Believe that what you desire is already on its way. However you must remove all the blockages in you so that you can receive the divine inflow of wisdom, power and abundance. These blockages are fear, worry, pessimism, anger, jealousy, criticism, hatred and so on.

Love the good around you instead of hating the bad. Remember you are not to hate ANYTHING. You are a magnet; love will draw to you all that is good and most suitable for you. Hate will attract all sort of undesirable situations.

You might think that this plan is easy and therefore not effective. Believe me changing the way I think was the most difficult thing I ever had to do. However when I learned that unlimited power and strength of the infinite or God is always with me, I overcame my unhealthy thought habits. My life has never been the same since then. I have exchanged fear for courage and worry for joy.

Purify your heart and thoughts. Rekindle your feeling of oneness with the omnipotent, the Infinite, Allah or God. Use the term you find most convenient, all of these terms points to the same truth.

Set specific goals and identify suitable plans. Never doubt about your success. Keep moving forward with courage, faith and invincible determination. Make sure that you are doing all that you can at your end, the rest leave it to the universe and trust me you wont be disappointed. You have a kingdom of heaven within you. Find it. When you do, your life becomes all that you desire it to be and MORE!
